Sorry no posts

It has been way too long since we posted. We found that our urgency to post diffused over time... and it was difficult to post down here. We are currently trying to get home. I was unable to get to San Jose to catch a flight because one of the major bridges to San Jose got washed out. So, today I will be catching a flight into San Jose where I will stay in hostel to catch a flight in the morning. I am flying stand-by so wish me luck. Meri and her mother will be leaving in the morning for Liberia where they will fly out. Their travel plans are much more solid and they should be home Saturday night. It has been a blast, we will post more pictures when we get home. It is amazing how fast this trip has gone. We are so thankful for this opportunity and will always have a bit of Costa Rica in our hearts. Good times all around. Can't wait to see our loved ones.

1st Anniversary

The rain came down and the floods came up, the rains came down and the floods came up.
We are in Nosara during the rainy season. Luckily,  we are staying on the second floor of a duplex. Unfortunately, the lower unit was flooded. We left town the day before our anniversary to celebrate our 1st anniversary together. We were lucky to travel before the tropical storm (two days of torrential rain) came to Nosara.

On the night of our actual anniversary the rains came pouring down. It was the most rain we experienced since we have been here.  As I was figuring out an escape plan mer was sweetly falling asleep. Sure enough the waters receded.

This was the hotel that everyone was recommending to us for a anniversary. We drove forever to get here to find out it was a bust and that they had no vacancy. "Fortunately" the sweet receptionist showed us a  very nice room that was not available. We thought it was hilarious that she would bring us all the way in to show us a room that we couldn't have. No vacancy but I will show you what you're missing out on.

There were no rental cars available. However, there were scooters!
On the ride to Carrillo for our anniversary.

Quick stop at the mini-super.

After there was no room for Meri and Joseph (Sean) at the inn, we were lucky to stumble across a hillside hotel.. A gem. Cheap, clean, and amazing views. They even served us dinner.
Our tasty dinner. Full red snapper and jumbo prawns. Such a spontaneous night.

Our little gem of a hotel room. Ocean views and the breakfast was included. We were out chasing the sun going down and found such a great place.

The monkey has large white cajones... Look close folks... Si'. Hehe

Lost Dog Cafe

We have stumbled across this great little spot. It is called Lost Dog Cafe, and it is on the low road in Nosara, It has free wifi and free calls to the states. This has been a great convenience because it is about a 5 minute walk rather then the 15 minute shlep through a very muddy road to the Frog pad.. I am currently sipping coffee at Lost Dog while Sean runs errands on the bike.  I just found out that Dave and Molly are coming to Costa Rica for a week! Unfortunately, they are not to Nosara though. They invited us down to stay with them next weekend. I think they are headed further south. Not sure.

Sean and I keep reminiscing what we were doing a year ago today.  Setting up the barn, and running around like chickens with our heads cut off.. I am sure many of you remember all the chaos and hard work that went into our wonderful party. We are often reminded of what great family and friends we have, and how good you all were to us this time last year. Our special day would not have been possible with out all our loved ones. We will always be grateful for the support we received.
Much Love.

Sunny Day

Today, the sky opened up and gave us some sun and good times. The last three days have been full of rain and overcast. It's not bad rain, it's a bit of a tropical rain so it is fun to get out and play in.  What a nice break though. It has also been a week since we have been here, wow, how time flies. We have met a lot of good people, ate good food, and feel part of the community. The local people here are so helpful and great to be around. The other day I was fiddling around the house while Meri was at yoga and decided to find somethings to fix. I noticed that our entrance gate in the front of the house was off it's hinges and thought "Yes! I got some work". As I went to work, I soon realized that I got myself into a project that I assumed would be an easy fix, but didn't turn out to be(much like many other projects I get myself into). In the midst of my banging on the fence and kicking dirt around a little local boy about 7-8 years old comes and pushes me out of the way and gets right to work. Before I know it he's bossing me around ask me to hold the fence and get a hammer. I scramble and find a decent sized rock and he agrees that it will do. As we work together, I realize this kid has such a great work ethic and I was very impressed. After banging on the fence for a bit, we finally fixed the hinge, pounded on it, and shared a laugh. Good kid. It's funny how work can bring people together and break down language/cultural barriers.

Also, this weekend Meri and I are going on an adventure to the tip of the Nicoya peninsula to share our 1st Year Anniversary! What an amazing year it has been together. It's funny how time flies when you are with someone you love. We will keep open hearts and minds while sharing the good and even the bad. We are so thankful for our loved ones and everything that has been given to us.

We will be better with our pictures in the future. Best wishes. It's always good.

Change Jar

(This is Sean multitasking at his best)

We have been planning and SAVING for this trip for a while now. We have kept a change jar on the book shelf in our apartment for a couple of months.. I am new to change jars. This is something Sean has done for a while. He'll empty his pockets or spare change into the jar, and then when your next vacation rolls around. You take it to good old America First Credit Union, and cash it in. It's brilliant. Its money you dont expect, or anticipate on having. Bonus money :)

Any Guesses on how much was in the jar?? Jonah ?)

BTW: This is not all we saved for the trip. Don't worry parental units ;)
Also, a big THANK YOU!!! To those (Jenica, Joel, Jared, Hillary, Len, Sally, Kristen, Steve, and Judy) who gave graduation presents to help us out with this trip. It was greatly appreciated. It helped make this trip happen.

Much love!
